Stephen has worked as a Deputy Headteacher of an outstanding primary school in London. In his teaching career, he worked in four different London boroughs and in his three years as a Year 6 teacher, he ensured that each of his cohorts were in the Top 100 in the country for KS2 results – a feat never achieved before by the school. The Local Authority recognised his excellent teaching practice and he received a prestigious award from borough.
More recently, he has worked with the DfE as ‘an distinguished expert in his field’ on KS2 National Curriculum tests as well as consulting with primary schools on assessment. He recently presented at a pan-London conference on ‘Life after Levels: Assessment in the new National Curriculum’.
When working as Deputy Headteacher, Stephen’s innovative teaching and learning resources, leadership materials and assessment & curriculum documents earned praise from local authorities and other primary schools, and his work in this field yielded a second award from the mayor. After being asked ‘can we buy this?’ for what seemed the hundredth time by visiting schools, Stephen set up Capital Learning Ltd in 2014 with the aim of assisting senior leaders in primary schools organise and assess in this new curriculum.
